Although we receive a third of our funding from Government sources, each year our dedicated team of staff and volunteers has to raise a further £250,000 from ticket sales, commercial hires and fundraising activities in order to continue delivering our 150 performances and 200 workshops for the benefit and well-being of the local community.
As you can imagine this is a challenging task, particularly in the current economic climate. However, there are a range of ways in which you can support the Barn to sustain its work and continue to play an important role in the cultural life of Aberdeenshire and Scotland.
If you feel you would like to help us by donating, you can also choose to donate a one-off sum which we would be very grateful for.

What do we spend it on?
Everything costs money, from creating an exciting programme to repairing the building and each year we have to make careful choices on what to spend where. We need your help more than ever to keep offering what we do best: high quality arts events, meaningful learning activities for all ages and a vibrant place for all in the community.
As one of the most diverse and ambitious rural arts venues, the Barn touches the lives of thousands of people every year. Bringing top quality cultural events from around the world into the very heart of Deeside, developing a reputation as the regional multi-arts venue with a close relation to the community and the natural environment we find ourselves in.
As an example, these are a few practical examples of what your donations could pay for:
- £20 pays for materials for learning activities for young people
- £50 pays for technical support for a performance
- £100 pays for an artist to work in the community for 4 hours
