Alicia's residency at the Barn
Alicia spent 2014 documenting life on the Barn's 110 community allotments, making photographic portraits of the people and place in this unique rural setting. Over the growing year, Alicia met plot-holders from all walks of life including retirees, golfers, artists, teachers, shop assistants, oil executives and children who are learning from an early age where their food comes from.
A resulting exhibition at the Barn Gallery told the stories of those who work on the plots and why they are drawn to work the land. Selected works from "Digging for Diamonds" went on to be shown at Scotland House in Brussels, as part of the Scottish Government's Year of Food and Drink celebrations in 2015.
