Summer Lab – The Hamewares Collection
Exhibition open* from Wednesday 12 - Wednesday 26 June @ 12 - 4pm
(*Tuesday - Saturdays)
The Hamewares Collection is a range of unique contemporary craft products specially commissioned by the Barn to celebrate the rich environment and cultural distinctiveness of Royal Deeside and Aberdeenshire.
Our first Summer Lab tells the story of the design and making behind the first Banchory-inspired Hamewares Commissions, and is the start of a series of projects and residencies at the Barn that reveal the thinking and working processes behind creating art, craft and design.
The recipients of the inaugural Hamewares Commission, ceramicist Kevin Andrew Morris and illustrator/designer Lindsay Johnston, whilst using very different materials, share a common link in that their work is made using a combination of traditional and modern methods of making.
Lindsay’s collection of Silk Pocket Squares, Cushions and Stationery and Kevin’s ceramic vessels are available to buy in our new retail spaces, FOLD and foyer Barn Store, with all proceeds being used to support future creative work at the Barn.
Learn the story of the making behind the products and the people who make them.
