As part of the Barn's forthcoming Cider Sessions, we are collaborating with the North East Scotland College and have invited two acts from the college to join our lineup, to help showcase the new emerging talent coming out of the northeast.
NESCol's Music Lecturer and Academic Improvement Lead, Rachel Watson, is enthused about the collaboration between NEScol and The Barn.
"North East Scotland College’s music programme is designed to educate and support students by addressing the diverse needs and desires of the music industry. A key part of enabling this is through nurturing strong relationships with real-world industry employers and facilitators within Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and beyond. When students show a keen interest, and emerging talent, in an area of the course, they are encouraged to match these skills directly with industry and our partners provide key outlets and opportunities to facilitate this.
The Barn’s Cider Sessions will showcase the strong relationship between The Barn and NESCol with students whose strengths lie in performance being invited to apply for a slot to perform at the event. Second year HND student Glen Gauld was delighted to be offered a slot alongside Fergus Blackhall and Jasmine McIntosh of Silver Pine, who have both recently completed their studies.
NESCol is very proud to support them at this event, which not only showcases their talent but also strengthens our bond with the wonderful Banchory creative arts venue, The Barn.
This creates a full-circle experience for students to explore their educational curiosity in a supported live employment setting. This is the epitome of excellent teaching practice and showcases the nurturing employers and facilitators in the region."
