Bees, Pollinators, Patterns

For this year’s Growing Together Day we commissioned artist Caitlin Dick to produce a fun and informative resource all about bees.

Learn about the benefits of supporting wild bees and get all the tips you need to build and maintain a bee hotel.

The packs were available as a limited print run during the day, with a packet of bee friendly wild flower seeds to be distributed. We’re delighted to be able to make a digital version available here.

Banchory Community Map

The map is a collaboration of three project teams based at Number One – community matters. ‘Community Art’ is a small group of young people who are learning about all aspects of art and potential careers. Marie-Claire Cameron is an artist who has led the group for the past 6 months.

Banchory Community Map Edited

The Bellfield Rose Garden is a community space that has been transformed by a group of volunteers led by community artist, Beatrice Charnley. The Bothy at the garden is being developed into an artist’s haven where people can combine interests in horticulture and crafts. The ‘Banchory Arts & Community Projects’ map is the product of the new partnership with Deeside Climate Action Network as the three groups of volunteers cross pollinate their skills, knowledge and ideas.

In horticulture terminology, Number One - Community Matters is the mother plant, while the three projects and their volunteers are the runners or seedlings. They are all now extending their roots and finding their own fertile ground to grow, but will always share the DNA of the original plant.
